The origins of Ca' Donato
... dates back at least to 1722: in fact, it is listed as Cascina Donati in the original map of the Teresian Cadastre of the municipality of Luvino (later Luino from 1889), restored and preserved at the State Archives of Milan (Id. 213421 Reference 1077 at No. 117 owners list).
Recovery
Even though until the early 2000s the property was used only as a weekend house, the bond with the origins of this land has remained strong in our family. Thus, the idea developed to make part of the estate productive again, in order to recover the tradition of the local agricultural economy and at the same time adapt it to the prospects of the current market and the specific socioeconomic changes of the Luino area. This idea then materialized in 2019 with the founding of the company and the construction of the small fruit plantation.

Berries proved to be a logical choice among the available options: in this way, a genuine product is destined for the local market, which does not require any forcing of the land's natural vocation and is cultivated exclusively following the organic protocol. The constant care for quality results in a return on investment that, over time, allows the strengthening of the local economic supply chain and the creation of new employment opportunities in the agricultural sector.
In the winter of 2020/21, pursuing the focus on quality and genuineness of the product and using the most up-to-date methods for organic cultivation, we added to the initial anti-hail protection the perimeter insect net (with the contribution of the Ministry of Agriculture and EU funds). This provides mechanical protection of the plants from increasingly invasive non-native insects and allows us to reduce the use of repellent substances.
In 2022, we therefore updated the irrigation system by introducing fertigation, with the aim of both optimizing plant care and reducing the need for water.
